...so what happens at Tarot Café?

People usually arrive a little after 2pm, except those already at Dante's having lunch. Between 2 and 2:30, the room is set up, drinks ordered, and general informal discussions and introductions take place. Entry is by a couple of gold coin donations in return for a complimentary raffle ticket.

Though Tarot Café has built, over the years, a core group of people who regularly (and irregularly) return, there are usually also some newcomers. Some participants have little or no Tarot knowledge, others have published decks, books or have taught courses for many years. The range of our collective experience is what makes each Tarot Café unique and always fascinating!

At 2:30 (pretty much punctually), the topic or area to be discussed begins to be presented. Usually, there is a small break during the presentation (in case parking meters need to be replenished or cars moved).

Usually, the presentation finishes between 4 and 4:15.

This is followed by the draw of the raffle, and by 4:30 those who wish to engage in a reading (paid or unpaid) do so. Paid readings ($30) are part of the fundraising for the ongoing activities of the Association for Tarot Studies (please note that though a number of readers may be in attendance, many come for the presentation and informal connections - only few engage in readings at Tarot Café).
